Philosophy of Education
A teacher who makes kindness an integral part of every lesson changes a child's world forever! As I walk into my classroom each morning, I strive to understand the need to teach each one of my students with the utmost respect that they deserve. Respect is an essential ingredient to ensure that each child will feel that they can be successful. It is my role as their mentor and educational leader to provide a positive, supportive and empathetic mindset.
I have a passion for understanding the whole child as a learner. As I assess each individual student, I ascertain what they know and what they need to know. I use that knowledge to tailor m student's individualized instruction. I must adjust the curriculum to fit my students needs. It is crucial for me to be flexible and to have the confidence to react and adjust to changing circumstances in my classroom.
I set very high expectations for my students and I continue to challenge them every day to make school meaningful and relevant. Many students need an extra "push" to lead them into a world of learning. It is my responsibility to guide all children at all levels to discover their own love of learning. There is no greater accomplishment than to reach those students whom many believe are unreachable! I must uncover the students "hidden intelligence" and provide an opportunity for all students to "shine"!
A Teacher who opens the door for students to discover a world they can feel confident to explore, is as teacher who sets no limits to their students' success. My students are actively involved in the learning process. Learning is so much fun in my classroom that the students forget that they are learning! Skills are presented in such a way that the learner is encouraged to discover new concepts through hands on activities.
Developing the love of reading is fostered in my students every day! There is no greater reward than to watch a child develop from a non-reader into an independent reader who truly loves to read! When you can read, the sky is the limit!
Teaching is not just a job...it is an avenue which will influence a child's path to discover that they can do anything! As I continue to strive to provide opportunities for my students to succeed, it is my goal that they in turn discover their own love of learning!
